SEEDING

SEEDING

A story about ephemerality. Featuring new work by Emelie Richardson. These handwoven works exist as collaborations across collective histories—past, present, future—always shifting. Materials carry embedded histories just as a seed carries a genetic forecast, dwelling in possibility. A fleeting form exists within a fleeting moment—blurry, hazy, indistinct—never to be perfectly repeated or mirrored. Yet these vanishing moments leave a lingering trace, an imprint. They endure and replenish through a continuous process of becoming and mutability. These weavings offer a place to rest with the ephemeral.

EMELIE RICHARDSON

Emelie Richardson’s handwoven works blur the boundaries of traditional craft and painting. In Emelie’s handwoven paintings, chance and improvisation have become integral elements to the laborious process of weaving, in which fluid line and form cannot be easily controlled. Allowing the materials to play a large role in informing the work, Emelie highlights spontaneous subtle shifts in surface texture and tonality. Emelie currently lives and works in Chimayo, New Mexico.
