Show Opening + Artist Reception: Impressions

  • Folklore Santa Fe 370 Garcia Street Santa Fe, New Mexico, 87501 United States (map)

A story about what's left behind. Featuring new work by visiting multimedia artist Matthew Allen and Taos-based ceramics artist Logan Wannamaker. Whether fleeting or felt for decades, some experiences linger long after they end. In a collection of hand-carved block prints, Allen's impressions of his time in Santa Fe read like a field study. A fresh visual language of mountain ranges and high desert flora are pressed into natural fibers for safekeeping. Wannamaker's reverent forms are informed by a long-running dialogue with the land. His wood kiln houses a collection of artifacts mined from the depths; when the fire goes out he's left with ash and a treasure trove.

Coinciding with Impressions, Logan Wannamaker will be transforming our gift shop space into a ceramics gallery, offering an array of functional and fine art pieces. The curation will feature wood-fired works by Logan and several of his apprentices, including Bina Ceramics, Nicole Bethune, Turiya Gross Ceramics, Mike Francoeur, and Sara Jensen. The pop-up will launch at the Impressions opening.

The opening will feature sweet treats from Manon Pierme and a special cacao offering from Giulia Garofalo and Sam Combs of Dragon Chocolate, served from Wannamaker’s earthy vessels.
